WHY HIRE A BOARD CERTIFIED CIVIL TRIAL ATTORNEY?

In Texas out of some 70,000 attorneys, only about 7,000 are Board Certified.  In Collin County, there are only about 20 attorneys who are Board Certified in Civil Trial Law, some of whom are currently serving as judges.  To be Board Certified, an attorney must have practiced for a minimum number of years, must have tried a minimum number of civil trials to conclusion (jury and non-jury), must pass a written examination and must have received favorable recommendations from fellow attorneys and judges.  Recertification is required every five years.  Daniel B. Why Do I Need a Will?

Many people know they need a will but don't know why.  Many people are under the impression that probate in Texas is expensive and complicated.  The reality is that with a properly drafted will, probate in Texas is fairly simple and is not expensive.  A will that is in proper statutory form can be admitted to probate after a simple hearing that usually only takes less than an hour.  Texas allows what is called "independent administration" of an estate pursuant to a valid will.  This means that court involvement is limited and therefore expenses are greatly reduced.  Most people do not need a complicated estate plan, which is really a tax-planning tool, because most people do not have an estate that would be subject to federal inheritance taxes.  So a fairly simple will can save your family time and money and can assure that your estate passes to the people and in the manner you direct.  Contact us to discuss your situation or to request more information.
